NEW - Future Stars Division!
Future Stars Division
Ridgefield Babe Ruth Softball is proud to announce our newest division for girls softball, the Future Stars.

The Future Stars division provides girls aged 5-8 who are new to the game of softball a well-developed introduction to the sport of softball and team sportsmanship.  The girls will learn the basic softball skills of fielding, throwing, hitting, and baserunning from highly experienced coaches, Ridgefield High School players, and college players in a fun and engaging environment.

The teams will meet once a week on Saturday mornings for an hour and a half structured with a 45-minute practice followed by a 45-minute game.  The season runs from April 2nd to June 11th, 2011.

2010-11 Winter Workouts
For the 5th consecutive year, Ridgefield Babe Ruth Softball offers winter softball skills training (hitting, throwing, fielding, baserunning, strategy) for all our players on 10 Friday evenings from January 7th through March 18th at North County Sports in Danbury.

The 10-session winter training fee is $180.  High school players participating in their paid high school winter training will have a $130 fee.

All Rebels players are expected to attend the winter training as this training is strongly recommended for our players to keep pace with the teams we will compete with during the spring and summer seasons.

Attendance exceptions include:

·       10U, 12U, 14, 16U players who are participating in a winter sports contest/practice (skiing, ice hockey, basketball, etc.).

·       14U or 16U players who are participating in their high school’s softball team sponsored winter softball training program (i.e. Ridgefield High School has winter softball training on Sunday evenings).

o   Our high school players are encouraged to attend as many sessions of both programs as possible as long as their academics are maintained.

In recent years, many area high schools have initiated winter training for their softball (and baseball) players.  We want our players to be ready, not only for their Rebels summer season, but also for their spring high school season.

As in prior years, Angelo Formisano will be our chief instructor.  Angelo will be assisted by special guest instructors, college softball players (current and former), and the Ridgefield Babe Ruth Rebels Softball coaching staff.

The training times for our 14U and 16U players will be from 6:00PM to 7:30PM.  The training times for our 10U and 12U players will be from 7:30PM to 9:00PM.  This change in format allows for a more structured and less crowded age-appropriate training.  There will be no pitching instruction during these sessions which will conducted at a different time.

Several of our players who have graduated out of the 16U division will also be attending the Friday night training sessions to ensure their successful high school seasons.

If you have any questions regarding the winter training, please contact me (contact info below my signature) or Bill Coghlan (203-731-1450, cogman69@aol.com).
